America’s growing population of senior adults presents an important opportunity and a challenge to provide expanded and improved services for older adults. At Presbyterian Homes Foundation, our goal is to raise funds that will sustain the quality of life of seniors in our care now and in the future. In addition to a full continuum of outstanding residential and care services, Presbyterian Homes offers comprehensive physical, intellectual and spiritual programs in an environment rich in blessings and joy.
Your gift to Presbyterian Homes can fulfill the need in a number of ways.
Endowment Fund
The Endowment is supported by the stewardship of generous friends who share our vision of caring for seniors. In 1999, the estate of Frank C. Shattuck made a generous endowed gift of more than $2 million to Presbyterian Homes of Wisconsin and established an endowment fund that will significantly contribute to the comfort and care of our residents for many generations to come.
The Endowment Fund is an important source of stability and strength at Presbyterian Homes. Gifts to the Endowment Fund are held in trust. Only the earnings are spent, not the original gifts. The Fund is prudently invested under the advisement of our Board of Directors' Finance Committee. The earnings from the endowment provide a permanent source of revenue for several programs, including spiritual care, benevolent care and quality of life enhancements.
Benevolent Fund
Within Presbyterian Homes, residents have not been denied service because they outlived their money. The Presbyterian Homes Foundation raises charitable support to maintain the highest quality care and services to residents who cannot pay for the total cost of their care. The Benevolent Fund allows Presbyterian Homes to provide financial assistance to those residents with identifiable need and supports our mission to promote independence, dignity, and well-being for all residents, regardless of their ability to pay.
Unrestricted Fund
Gifts for undesignated purposes enable Presbyterian Homes to respond quickly to the areas of greatest need throughout our organization. Unrestricted gifts are used to meet our top priorities for resident care and services.
Individual Site Funds
Presbyterian Homes oversees the activity of two retirement communities in Wisconsin, Avalon Square in Waukesha and Kirkland Crossings in Pewaukee. Our residents, families and friends understandably feel special connections to the Presbyterian Home they know best. We encourage people to think about supporting their home with gifts given to a specific facility. Please contact the Foundation office if you have questions about how to designate your gift.
Capital Initiatives Fund
To stay responsive to the needs of older adults, Presbyterian Homes combines the planning and construction of new facilities with the maintenance and enhancement of our existing buildings. We strive to make all of our buildings comfortable, safe, and inviting. One of our new facilities is Avalon Square, a comprehensive community resource in downtown Waukesha. The city block campus includes 147 apartments offering independent and assisting living and memory care. It is complemented by the Town Centre, a beautiful multipurpose common-use area designed to help prolong the independence and well-being of its residents and a resource meant to be shared with the greater community. Andrea and Tony Bryant offered a generous challenge gift to match every $2 with another dollar up to $500,000. This major gift provided a 5,000 square-foot state of the art fitness center for residents and community members to use.
All gifts to Presbyterian Homes are important. Any gift, whether immediate or deferred, can have special significance by being given in memory or in honor of a friend, loved one, or favorite staff member.
